An Analysis of the Experience of the Old Friendly City (Case Study: Karaj City)
The world is currently experiencing two major demographic processes: one, "population aging" and the other, "increasing urbanization." These two processes are among the major concerns of urban planning and management. One of the patterns of urban development that emphasizes the relationship between urban spaces and the phenomenon of aging is the "Age-Friendly City". The goal of the Age-Friendly City is to build a city that meets the needs of the elderly. The premise of the research rests on the idea that aging is as "Embodied" as "Emplaced"as well. Likewise, aging is not just confined to specific urban spaces, but every aspect of ageing life relates to different urban spaces. Evaluation and analysis of Age-Friendly City experience is based on a number of indicators and criteria. This article analyzes the experience of the Age-Friendly City in Karaj based on the criteria and criteria required through quantitative and qualitative methods. The results of this study show that the Age-Friendly City experience in the Karaj sample is generally lower than the required standards. Hence, it needs to be upgraded, refined, revitalized and in some cases created.
