Evaluation of the role of urban decoration, ornament, and furniture in the prevention of crime occurrence
Among various social phenomena, crime is of significant importance. The importance of this issue is due to the humans’ instinctive need to security. Today, prevention is considered as the best criminal policy regarding crime that has also been referred to in the constitution. From the point of view of the holy prophet (peace be upon him), security is a kind of hidden gift and humans pay more attention to this gift when they have it less. To achieve the aim of prevention, various methods have been used in urbanism. One of these techniques and strategies is the design of environment and the use of special ornaments and decorations with the aim of postural prevention of crime occurrence. Form the psychological point of view, joyful environments with beautiful designs induce mental tranquility that this sense is, to a great extent, related to the topic of prevention of crime occurrence. One of the important issues that can be observed in the design, production, and decoration of the old places, cities, mosques, and homes is the appropriate lightning and the prevention of darkness. This important matter is quite observable and comprehensible in historical architecture. A look at the ornaments and decorations of the mosques, their domes, and minarets shows that this important issue has been completely observed. In the present research, descriptive-analytical method has been used and the aim is to evaluate the impact of urban decorations and ornaments on postural prevention of crime occurrence. In this research, the library research method has been used.
