Resistance Preventive Doctrine confronting Israeli Military Superiority; Innovations and Victories

Prevention concept is firstly identified with having Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) particularly nuclear ones. Right now, some countries have these weapons. Since these weapons are not exclusively in the hands of US government, there is no big war such as WWI & II. Iran is the only government in the region that has created a new concept for preventive without relying on nuclear weapons power. This new concept of prevention is not depended to nuclear arms but it is based on mobilizing all facilities and potentials in the country and preparing institute for the fight and confronting crisis. This is in the governmental level. However, in in the level of revolutionary movements and resistance, Hezbollah is a forerunner in creating a preventive balance against the strongest army in the region which is supported by the most powerful government in the world. Resistance doctrine is not exclusively in the conceptual framework, but it is an actual experience that is based on an evolved military complex that can confront with the powerful Israeli army and its military doctrine and principals. Unlike liberation movements that lose their military role after victory, Hezbollah continued this role despite the victory achieved in 2000. When the enemy left the Lebanese territory the war equation changed and guerrilla struggle replaced the confrontation on borders. So, Hezbollah moved toward creating an active preventive equation in Lebanon. When Hezbollah launches missiles to respond the terrorist operations by Zionist regime targeting Hezbollah leaders and sites, it created a new equation in confronting Israel. Thus, a simple tactical weapon like Katyusha changed to be a strategic one and it was used to prevent the enemy from bombarding liberated areas and targeting resistance leaders. Then after, in responding the outnumbered invasions of Zionist regime (Operation Accountability in 1993, The Grapes of Wrath Operation in 1996, Qana massacre and …) Hezbollah launched a lot of Katyusha missiles targeting Jewish settlements and finally Israel was forced to accept a solution instead of invasion by “July Agreement” in 1993 and “April Agreement” in 1996. Now, the preventive role of missiles and Hezbollah power had been revealed. From 1998 and by increasing the number and quality of operations against Zionist regime, demands to withdraw increased and even entered Israeli election promises. So, on 25th May 2000 Ehud Barak withdrew Israeli forces. This withdrawal was not a result of United Nations Security Council Resolution 425 but it was only because of resistance. Hezbollah military attempts in 2000-2006 using special operations and innovative moves were quite preventive in front of Israeli army and they forced Zionist regime to accept POWs exchange without using military force. In the destructive 33-day-war that Israel imposed on Lebanon on July 12th 2006 it could not achieve any of its goals, particularly removing Resistance. In this war, Hezbollah could impede Israeli army progress and paralyzed Israeli forces for more than one month around the borders. In this war, the Resistance mixed two methods of guerrilla and classic wars. The July War made a deep big hurt in Israeli security doctrine which is based on managing the war out of Israeli borders. In this war Israeli territory was targeted deeply and hardly by missiles. Hezbollah participation in defending Syria and Lebanese borders in the fight against Salafis had a great impact on increasing Hezbollah’s logistic, military and operational capabilities and also in developing and completing fighting methods. In future Hezbollah can get in combined war with Israel after the experiences it achieved in Syria. Resistance has shaped its doctrine principals based on a deep study on the enemy’s military doctrine and war methods bases in a way which is quite compatible with the condition of confronting the superior enemy. So, in confronting with Israel Hezbollah has invented new meth- ods that previously have not been experience by any liberation movement or Arab Army. Each principal of this doctrine is related with one or more principal of the enemy’s. The most prominent principals of Resistance doctrine include: merging in society, secrecy, intelligence, efficiency, preparation for operation, psychic operation, preparing the society for war, prevention.
