Investigating Factors Affecting the Occurrence of Urban Accidents
Transportation is one of the most important variables in the economic, social, and political development in each country. Given the economic, social, and cultural benefits of transportation development and the speed of displacing goods and people, the number of traffic accidents is on the rise. Life and financial damages from traffic accidents have imposed material and immaterial costs on societies. Traff8ic accidents are now considered major factors of fatalities in Iran and across the world, especially among the youth. This article investigates the role of human factor, factor of transportation and that of road in the occurrence of urban accidents in Iran. The statistical population included accidents occurred in 2015. To gather data, an accident report sheet of data (public data) is completed by the time of outlining the sketch. Research findings showed that in 79% of accidents, only the human factor contributed mostly and such factors as transportation and road accounted for 4.32% of accidents, while 16.68% of accidents saw the very combination of factors. The human factor accounted for the highest percentage of accidents with 31.6%, and consumption of alcoholic beverages with 0.28% accounted for the least number of accidents. The highest percentage the factor of transportation had on accidents was 2%. Also, the actor of road had a 0.9% rate on accidents.
