Abstract:

This article seeks to answer the question: Where is the place of justice in Aristotle's political thought? The answer to this question is important in the sense that justice as a wise principle of human coexistence is the basic concept of moral philosophy, social philosophy and old political philosophy and new ideas. Aristotle uses the concept of "equality" and "moderation" in his definition of justice, and his profound influence on the political thought of Muslim philosophers adds to the importance of Aristotle's theory of justice. The paper hypothesizes that Aristotle's theory of justice is rooted in ontology, Aristotelian ethics, and Greek custom. And justice finds meaning in him based on the general natural model in his ontology. The findings of this article, which are obtained by descriptive-analytical method, show that Aristotle divides justice into two general and specific meanings. Justice in the general sense is respect for the law and equality of citizens, which defines it with virtue and considers it as the same set of virtues. And justice in a specific sense is divided into two types: distributive and corrective: Distributive justice affects the distribution of honor and money and other things that are distributed among citizens who have a share in the political system of society. And another type of this justice, corrective justice, plays the role of correction in transactions and relations between people in society. The Relationship between Justice and Equality Aristotle's important discussion of distributive justice; According to him, justice is the observance of proportionality, and that equal people are treated equally and inequalities are treated unequally, and that gifts and facilities are distributed in proportion to the equality and inequality of individuals.
