Designing a Model of Performance Appraisal for Faculty Members in Farhangian University

The present study was conducted to design a model of performance appraisal for faculty members in Farhangian University. The study adopted exploratory sequential mixed method. In the qualitative part, the participants were 13 faculty members selected through purposive sampling method. In the quantitative part, the study sample comprised 260 teacher educators selected by stratified random sampling. The data was collected through semi-structured interviews and self-administrated questionnaire. Content analysis method by use of Smart PLS software was applied to validate the conceptual model. The findings showed four main dimensions namely Professional knowledge, Professional skills, Professional ethics and personality traitas instruments to appraise faculty members’ performance. The confirmatory factor analysis also showed that all items of the identified dimensions, except for the critique and analysis power in professional knowledge and blunt and direct in speech and behavior in personality traitas, had good variance explanation for each identified dimension’ scores. The results of the second-order confirmatory factor analysis showed that the four identified components have a sufficient factor load to predict the faculty members’ performance appraisal in Farhangian University.
