The study of the causes of accidents of the elderly deaths due to road traffic injuries died in Hamadan Province in 2017
Elderly people are more vulnerable to road accidents and traffic accidents than other groups of society. Unfortunately, these age groups in Iran have been less considered. The purpose of this study was to reflect the health status of the elderly in Hamedan Province in relation to traffic injuries.
This is a descriptive -sectional study. Data was collected by collecting statistical information from Hamedan Medical Center in 2017. Using checklist, demographic characteristics, location, incident time, etc., were analyzed and finally analyzed using SPSS software.
In this study, 77.2% of the dead were male. 65% of accidents occurred in elderly people aged 70-60 years. The status of the deceased at the time of the incident the majority of elderly were pedestrians (55/0%). In the case of the death of the deceased in terms of the location of the incident, 47% of deaths occurred in extra-urban accidents.
Considering the high death rate among men, older pedestrians and the increasing number of elderly people, it is important to conduct educational programs and prevent in this age group.
