Examine factors associated with tendency to veil among girls and women aged 9-45 in Hamadan in 2015

Abstract:
Objectives and purpose

Veil is considered as one of the important social and religious issues. Islamic attire for women as an external and internal shield against strangers lead to family, moral immunity and most importantly social security. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to use the theory of planned behavior Ajzen and to determine factors associated with 4-59 girls and women tend to veil.

Method

this study is done in the method of descriptive-survey in 2015 to 900 girls and women aged 9-45 in Hamedan. Subjects are selected by multi-stage sampling. They are participated in this study by completing the researchers' questionnaire. The collected data are analyzed by SPSS and descriptive and inferential statistical tests.

Findings

the results showed that the mean score of constructs of the theory of planned behavior included attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control with an average score of statistically significant relationship the tendency to veil and behavioral intention are two important predictors of behavior. The construct of attitudes and subjective norms and perceived behavioral control with adverse effects on behavioral intention to perform the behavior of veil is very essential.

Discussion

According to the results of this study, design programs and instruction messages could be very beneficial in order to promote the veil based on the theory of planned behavior. The results could be used in universities, cultural centers, counseling center, police commander social department and other organizations and institutes involved in social security.
