Predictions based on marital stability mate selection criteria, communication skills and family resiliency
The aim of this study was to predict marital stability based on the criteria of choosing a spouse, communication skills and family resilience. The method was descriptive-correlational in the statistical population of married couples in Tehran. The sample of this study included 379 clients of cultural centers and houses in Tehran who were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling. Subjects answered marriage instability questionnaire, spouse selection criteria, communication skills questionnaire and family resilience scale. The research data were analyzed using SPSS-24 statistical software and stepwise regression method. Findings of the study showed the effect of spouse selection criteria (p≤ 0.01; β = 0.26), family resilience (p≤ 0.01; β = -0.21) and communication skills (p≤ 0.01; β = -0.11). Family Resiliency wife also variable selection criteria and overall communication skills could predict 22 percent of the variance in marital stability (p≤ 0.05). Therefore, it can be said that a stable marital life is influenced by the criteria of choosing a spouse, the ability to withstand the challenges of marital life and effective communication between couples.
