Sense of locational belonging in public spaces with emphasis on urban identity
Sense of belonging is one of the most important topics in urban planning that can play a great role in planning and development of cities; Such a way that high sense of belonging of citizens to their neighborhood and city is very useful, in many ways, for development and progress of cities. In fact, creating an effective, efficient and dynamic urban space, which be in harmony with the needs of social, cultural, environmental, physical, economic and etc., always has been the concern of many urban planners and designers. Hence, the purpose of the present research is study the sense of locational belonging in public spaces with emphasis on urban identity. The method of research is descriptive-analytical method derived from valid library resources and documents. The results show that the location, in addition to the material dimension, has an immaterial dimension and it creates emotions in its inhabitants. Sense of belonging to the location is an important factor in formatting the communication bases of users and the environment and finally, it leads to the creation of quality environments.
