The role of attachment to parents in the quality of life of without /with bad caregivers’ girls mediated by self-compassion

Abstract:
This research aimed to investigate the role of attachment to parents on the quality of life by mediating self-compassion in girls without /with bad caregivers. The research method was descriptive and correlational. The samples were 241 individuals selected by random sampling from 450 without /with bad caregivers’ girls in Tehran province. Instruments used were: The World Health Organization Quality of Life group-BREF (WHO-QOL-BREF), the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment-Revised (IPPA-R) Armsden & Greenberg, and the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS) of Neff. The collected data were analyzed by path analysis. According to the findings, the direct effect of attachment to parents on the quality of life was significant. The indirect effect of attachment to parents was also significant through the mediating variable of compassion. Attachment to parents plays a role in the quality of life of without /with bad caregivers’ girls, both directly and through self-compassion. Therefore, this research results can help develop interventions for girls with and without bad caregivers.
