Investigating the Effect of Land Use Change on the Incubation of European Turtle Dove in National Parks of Dez and Karkheh
There have been few studies conducted in Iran regarding immigrant fowl especially European turtle dove and its incubation. Considering the stated issues, this study was carried out with the aim of investigating the effect of land use change on the incubation of European turtle dove in national parks of Dez and Karkheh. In this case study, the studied bird was European turtle dove. Given the space of regions and the amount of access to the nests, the regions have been divided into various parts and they were selected based on the importance of issue in each region regarding the information provided before. The results of the current research indicated 75% decrease in the number of chickens, 15% success of flight in the periphery inside the fence; and regarding outside of the fence, it showed 83% decrease in the number of chickens all over the region and 5.18% success of flight for all chickens during 2019 as compared to 2012. Moreover, the results indicated that there was a significant difference between the chickens inside the fence and those outside the fence and the amount of chickens’ success inside the fence was higher in both 2019 and 2012 due to protected conditions.
