Abstract:
The aim of this study was to identify the role of psychological well-being and excitement seeking in the attitudes towards social harms in the youth. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and correlative in terms of nature and method. The target population consists of undergraduate students of Hamadan Islamic Azad University of which according to Krejcie and Morgan table, 350 people participated online and voluntarily in the present study through online calls due to corona traffic limitations. Thereafter, the social harms questionnaire of Aghai and Teymouri-Tash (2010), Psychological Well-Being Scale of Riff (1989), and excitement scale of Zuckerman (1971) were used to collect the required data. Pearson's correlation test, analysis of variance, and multiple regressions were used to analyze the data in spss23 software. Findings illustrated that there was a significant negative relationship between the components of psychological well-being (self-acceptance, positive relationships with others, autonomy, personal growth, purposeful life, and dominance over the environment) and attitudes towards social harms of the youth. Furthermore, there is a positive relationship between excitement seeking and attitudes towards the youth's social harms at a significance level greater than 0.05. Therefore, we conclude that the role of psychological well-being and excitement seeking are effective in attitudes towards social harms leading to social discipline.
