Educational needs of mothers who have children with febrile convulsion

This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed to assess the educational needs of the mothers of children with febrile convulsion in 2003. Samples consist of 120 mothers whose children admitted to madani hospital for FC. They were not randomly selected and the data were collected via a questionnaire and structural interview.
The results showed that most of the cases(98.3%) had moderate educational needs about F.C . Only 15.8% were awared of the ways of fever reduction, 36.7% were aware of correct method of wet spong, 59.2% of acetaminophen dose and 46.7 of the correct time to persecribe of acetaminophen. 93.5% were not aware of giving diazepam for prophilaxy in children with F.C.
We conclude that mothers need to be trained about controlling FC. Doctors, nurses, health vulenteers and mass media , text books of high schools and teaching pamphlets can have a good influence in resolving text books and raising level of the childrens and family,s health.
