Effectiveness of Olson marital enrichment on marital intimacy and commitment of Tehranian married women
With the growing complexity of marriage and family, there is abundant literature on marital relationships and marital quality and an emerging understanding of how marriage might influence the health and well-being. The understanding marital relationship is also very timely given the changes the institution of marriage has been witnessing over the last several decades. Being married contributes to concordance in health behaviors over time between spouses. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of Olson's method of marriage enrichment education on intimate and marital commitment of married women in Tehran during 2017-2018.
The present study, including semi-experimental design, is a pre-test-post-test with a control group. The population of this study includes all married women in Tehran. The sample consisted of 30 women who were randomly selected using cluster sampling. The data collection method was library and field studies. The Bazarazi Matrimonial Inventory (2001) and Adams & Jones Marriage Commitment Questionnaire (1997). Examination group were under education for 8 sessions that include 90 minutes, two times a week.After finishing sessions, we run again bouth questionnaire in both groups.
The result of covariance analysis shows that Olson's method of marriage enrichment education has been effective on intimate and marital commitment of married women in Tehran.
Based on the findings of this research and citing previous studies, it can be concluded that Olson's method of marriage enrichment education interventions's usefulness can be used for improvement of couples' marriage and intimacy.
