Investigating Factors Contributing to Social Trust in the Police (Khorramabad City Survey)
Background and aim:
One of the aspects of the police organization success is the degree it is trusted in by members of the community. In fact, its power highly depends on the support and approval of the society and also the ability of the members of this organization to attract and maintain people's trust in the police organization. The present study seeks to investigate the factors affecting social trust in the police in the city of Khorramabad.
The present research is of survey type and the statistical population of the study (N=384) is all people ranging from 15 to 75 years old in this city. The people have been selected using multi-stage cluster sampling.
The results of the research indicate that there is a significant relationship between police performance, media utilization, security feeling, and crime experience and police populism with the variable of trust in the police. The results of the regression table show that police performance, crime experience, media utilization, social security feeling and universalism have the greatest power to explain the changing variables of trust in the police, have respectively the highest potential in explaining changes in the variable of trust in police . Independent variables, in total, could explain %63 of the changes in dependent variable.
