The role of influential social and environmental components of political economy on spatial organization of Rasht metropolis

We are facing economic, political, social and environmental changes in space with the increase in the number of metropolises in developing countries. Depending on the conditions of the natural environment and the socio-economic system of the city, different forms of spatial organization occur in metropolitan areas. This has led to a change in the spatial organization of such cities. Meanwhile, political economy and its components are one of the influential indicators on the changes and transformations of urban spaces. The main purpose of this study is to identify the effective social and environmental components of political economy on the spatial organization of Rasht metropolis using the Dematel technique. The present study is applied in terms of purpose and is descriptive-analytical based on the nature. Findings indicate that among the social components of political economy, the social status variable of city residents, ranked 51.08; As well as among the environmental components of political economy; The variable of mass construction projects, regardless of environmental issues, with 53.01 points, have the most important role in the transformation of spatial organization of Rasht metropolis.
