Urban equipment design with the aim of encouraging citizens to respect the law
The purpose of this study is to achieve the causes of non-compliance with traffic rules by pedestrians and the impact of urban equipment on compliance. Also, achieving principles in equipment design that can be effective in encouraging compliance with the law. The present applied research is in the category of qualitative research in which we have used the Delphi method and then the questionnaire tool for navigation. This questionnaire has a high validity with Cronbach's alpha of 0.768. The sample size was 1151 citizens of Tehran between 18 to 60 years old. The results showed that the people believe in the need to comply with the law and its reasons, but consider boredom and haste as the main obstacles to complying with it. They believe that the design of the environment and the traffic light affect the desire to obey the law and the current product is not sufficiently visible. The most important problem in the field of law enforcement is related to passing the red light. The most important reason for non-compliance with the law by passers-by is boredom and haste. It is necessary to use both coercive and persuasive approaches in redesigning the relevant product.
