Study the status of public librarian’s health information literacy in connection whit clients (case study: west azerbaijan province)
This study aims to survey the status of public librarians' Health Information Literacy in relation to clients.
The present study is conducted descriptively and analytically. The data is collected through questionnaire which distributed among 119 West Azerbaijan public librarians. SPSS software is applied to analyze the data.
Librarians' Health Information Literacy in empathy, communication, health and family skills was in desirable level. The obtained average in all listed skill items which was higher than average criterion 3 proved it. Health Information Literacy of librarians was higher in “knowing honor to service the clients” to other empathy indicators; “respectful appropriate behavior with all clients” to other indicators of communication skills; “trying to prevent perilous behaviors” to other indicators of health skills; “acceptance responsibility in their acts” to other indicators of family.
This study is highly beneficial and helpful since it highlights the role of librarians in providing Health Information services to clients. Applying Health Information Literacy measurement, authorities of the public libraries can promote the literacy of librarians ' health information.
