Comparative Investigation of Acquisitions & Collection-Development Module of Azarsa, Miawa, and Snaa 2.0 Library Softwares in order to provide essential components for medical libraries in the country.
The purpose of this study was to provide essential components for acquisitions & collection-development module in library software for medical libraries of the country.
The study was descriptive. The tool used in this research was a questionnaire and a checklist designed by the researcher of 9 elements, 38 main characteristics and 172 sub-characteristics. The reliability coefficient of the questionnaire with Cronbach's alpha was 0.977. Data analysis was performed using SPSS at descriptive statistics.
The "billing" element with the mean of 4.37 was the most important and the "public facilities" element with the mean of 4.21 was the least important. Of the three softwares Azarsa, Ma'va and Sana2.0, the most consistent was Azarsa. Ma'va and Sana2.0 were at the second and the third rank respectively.
According to the experts' opinion, all the proposed elements and characteristics were recognized as important and the experts did not suggest a new element and feature. Accordingly, it is suggested that the acquisitions & collection-development module of any library software contain at least 8 elements, 32 main characteristics, and 118 sub-characteristics.
