Correlation Researchers Philosophic mindedness on precision of information retrieval from scientific information databases
The purpose of this study was to determine correlation philosophic mindedness on precision of user’s information: retrieval from scientific information databases.
Research method was quasi experimental, and the population consisted of 42 scientific researchers from different disciplines that selected based on purposeful sampling in Tehran. The data gathering instrument was the Mirsepasi and Soltani’s philosophic mindedness questionnaire that has 60 items. Soltani questionnaire measures four compounds of philosophic mindedness in 4 degrees Likert scale. Cronbach’s alpha for philosophic mindedness was 0.91 two pages of the retrieved results (80 records) were examined by the users in terms of relevance to their real information needs.
research Finding showed a significant correlation between the mean values of the philosophic mindedness of the users and the precision of the retrieved results. 50% of users have high and good level of philosophic mindedness and only 11% of users have law level of philosophic mindedness. There was significant relation between demographic characteristics of gender, age and employment status, degree and job with philosophic mindedness of the users and precision of the retrieved results.
