Interior Design Criteria for Healthcare Centers with Emphasis on Evidence-Based Design

Due to the significant role of healthcare centers in maintaining or restoring health to the community, which itself is a vital issue, the need to pay attention to the architectural design of these centers, both physically and functionally, and interior architecture is vital felt more than ever. The healthcare centers' interior design is essential because it significantly impacts clients, patients, and treatment staff and should reduce stress and anxiety and provide a calm and hopeful environment for them. This research is applied in terms of its objective and descriptive-analytical method and using library and documentary studies to develop the performance and psychological modification of the healthcare centers' interior spaces, rely on the evidence-based design approach, provides criteria and solutions for the healthcare centers interior design and the results show that many of the evidence-based design characteristics are under the influence of evidence-based medicine and overlap with it. Recognition and application of psychological components and criteria in interior design such as proper use of light, color, adaptive spaces, natural elements, and vegetation, in increasing the quality of healthcare centers and designing a safer environment, with more peace and less stress is effective and leads to improve therapeutic function.
