Investigating the Relationship between AnthropometricIndicators and Maximum Oxygen Consumption withthe Performance of Imam Ali(AS) Officer CadetsBased on the World Army Standard Test
The results of studies show that anthropometric conditions and aerobic readiness on the performance of military cadets in the standard entrance tests of the army provide different answers. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between anthropometric indicators and maximum oxygen consumption with the performance of Imam Ali officer cadets based on the World Army Standard Test.
This research is a semi-experimental study that was conducted in 1398 at Imam Ali Military University. The random sampling method was available and 200 individuals were selected based on the research background, which was randomly reported to be 22.4 years old and 23.3 body mass index. Before the test, the subjects were evaluated by the anthropometric index, then the maximum oxygen consumption was assessed by field tests, and then the subjects carefully completed the test of three standard military marches. After confirming the natural distribution of data by Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and after the homogeneity of variances by the Leven test, the Pearson correlation test was used to investigate the relationship. The data were presented as mean and standard deviations. All statistical operations of the research were performed by SPSS software and the significance level of the tests (p <0.05) was considered.
The results showed that there is a direct and significant relationship between the scores of anthropometric indicators and the generalized standardized score in existing officer students. Also, this test indicates a direct and significant relationship between the variables of maximum oxygen consumption score and standardized general score. Students are officers who have a higher correlation between the maximum oxygen consumption and performance in the test with the anthropometric index.
The results show that in the standard physical fitness test of the army, cardiovascular indicators, and especially the maximum oxygen consumption are more relevant and effective. Compared to other indicators, aerobic metabolic indicators are more important than physical and phenotypic indicators.
