Objective

Fatigue can alter shooting and balance performance. This is less addressed in army men. This study was aimed to evaluate the effects of military-based exercise induced fatigue on shooting accuracy and balance performance in IRI Army men.

Methodology

12 military men with 10 years or higher expert shooting experience participated in this study. Shooting score and center of pressure deviations in quiet standing and during shooting, and dynamic balance was measured before and after the fatigue.

Results

After the fatigue, shooting accuracy decreased (p=0.001). Also, center of pressure deviations during quiet standing (p=0.012) and during shooting (p=0.001) increased. Additionally, dynamic balance of participants decreased (p=0.001).

Conclusion

Military based exercise-induced fatigue can decrease shooting accuracy and balance performance. These results could provide useful information for military trainers and military physical fitness professionals to selecting strategies for reducing fatigue effects.
