Structural relationships between difficulty in regulating emotion and psychological well-being with marital happiness in women
This study aimed to investigate the structural relationships between difficulty in emotion regulation and psychological well-being with marital happiness in women. Research
The research method is descriptive-correlational based on structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study includes all married women aged 25-35 in Sari city in 1398. To determine the sample size according to the number of observed variables and allocation of the coefficient 20 for each variable, 255 persons were selected as the sample size by non-random sampling method and responded to Gertz & Roemer's Difficult emotion regulation questionnaires (2004), Reef's Psychological Well-Being Questionnaire (1989), and Nathan et al's (1973) Marital Happiness Questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using multivariate regression based structural equations and SPSS 18 and Amos 24 software.
The findings showed that there was a negative significant relationship between difficulty in emotion regulation with marital happiness and a positive significant relationship between psychological well-being and marital happiness of women. The research model was also confirmed and overall 44% of marital happiness was explained by difficulty in emotion regulation and 37% of marital happiness was explained by psychological well-being.
According to the findings of this study, it is suggested that in order to prevent negative emotions and increase psychological well-being, negative emotion regulation skills should be taught to couples to increase their marital satisfaction.
