Proof of the Infallibility of the Prophets Based on the Verses of Uswa and the Obligation of Obedience to Them
The Holy Quran mentions the Holy Prophet (pbuh) as the Uswatun Hasanah (good example). It is understood from the phrase "Messenger of God" that this feature is not specific only to him and includes all the prophets. Other verses of the Holy Qur'an emphasize the obligation of obedience to the divine prophets. A prophet's being an example and the obligation to obedience to him, indicates the infallibility of prophets from error and sin. Although the direct denotation (Madlul-e-Mutabiqi) of these verses is the infallibility of the prophets during their prophetic mission, their implied denotation (Madlul-e-Iltezami) includes their infallibility in the period before prophet hood. The subject of this article is the explanation of the argument based on the verses related to the exemplary nature of the prophets and the obligation of obedience to them, and the scope of the application of those verses, as well as replying to the problems in this regard.
