Abstract:

With the advancement of educational technology and their diffusion to all fields of science, history education has also entered new realms using educational technologies, especially in cinema. The film Twelve Angry Men with its content in relation to the teaching of philosophy is a case in point. This research, based on an interpretive method, attempts to examine the relation of the film Twelve Angry Men to the teaching of the linguistic philosophy of history. The findings suggest that the film is a conflict between positivists and commentators, or objectivists and subjectivists, as a result of which some concepts such as mind, objectivism, value, and understanding could be comprehensible through education. Also, historical narratives could be questioned due to the time laps between the narrator and the actual events. Keywords: Educational technology; Twelve Angry Men; history's linguistic philosophy; explanation; objectivity and value.
