Abstract:
Background and objective

Risky driving behaviour is one of the main causes for physical and mental disorders in today's life. Paying attention to the injuries can play a preventive and effective role in improving and maintaining the mental health of the community. Especially considering the growing trend of urbanization in our country and the sensitivity and the need to address this issue becomes more apparent. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the  moral character and high-risk driving and it has been mediated by cognitive emotion regulation.

Method

The research is applied in terms of purpose and correlational. The statistical population included all people arrested by the police during the first six months of 1398 who were accused of consuming alcohol while driving, which was available through sampling  of  participants who, after being arrested by law enforcement, were instructed in a legal procedure to complete a training course on preventing recurrence of high-risk behaviors while driving for 8 hours. To collect data, questionnaires of ethical origins (Khormai and Ghaemi, 1397), Manchester driving behavior (Straddling and Meadows, 2000), and cognitive emotion regulation (Garnefski; Craig, 2006) were used.

Findings

The findings of the study, which was performed using LISREL software, indicated that the positive moral sources directly with the standard coefficient of 27/0 and also the t-statistic (95/4 had a significant decrease on the adapted strategy and the negative moral sources also directly with trajectory coefficient. 23/0 t-statistic with  17/4) has a significant effect on adaptedResults: Negative moral behaviors predict high-risk driving behaviors through cognitive emotion regulation. Cognitive emotion regulation has also been a direct predictor of risky driving behaviors.
