The predictive role of attachment and couple styles on relational maintenance strategy in women
The aim of present study was to examine the predictive role of attachment and couple styles on relational maintenance strategy. This research is a descriptive_ correlation. The statistical population has been consisted of all the women who had middle school children in Tehran city; so, 372 people have been selected by multiple cluster sampling. Stafford, Dainton & Haas) 2000) Relational Maintenance Strategy Measure, hazan & shaver(1987) Adult attachment questionnaire and Fitzpatrick& Ritchie(1994) Relational Dimensions Instrument has been considered as the data collection tools. Data analysis was performed through Pearson correlative coefficient and multiple regressions. The results showed that there is a significant positive relationship between secure attachment style(r= 0.17, p≤0.001) and traditional (r= 0.23, p≤0.001) and independence(r= 0.56, p≤0.001) couple style with relational maintenance strategy. Also there is a significant negative relationship between avoidance(r= - 0.16, p≤0.002) and ambivalent(r= - 0.14, p≤0.003) attachment styles with relational maintenance strategy and there is no significant relationship between separation couple style with relational maintenance strategy. Also multiple regression analysis has shown that traditional and independence couple styles and secure, avoidance and ambivalent attachment styles can predict 33% variance of the relational maintenances strategy. According to these findings, it can be concluded that couple styles and attachment styles have effective role in the couple use relational maintenance strategy.
