The relationship between critical thinking and social health with a tendency to risky behaviors among the high school students of Miandoab city
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between critical thinking and social health with a tendency to high-risk behaviors among first grade high school students in Miandoab.
The research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and survey in terms of data collection method. The statistical population of the study is all the students of the first secondary schools of Miandoab city and the statistical sample includes 342 of these students whose number of samples was estimated based on Cochran's formula. The sampling method used was stratified random. Research data were divided into three questionnaires (Iranian Adolescent Risk Inventory (IARS) standardized by Zadeh Mohammadi et al.) Were collected and analyzed using Pearson and regression tests using SPSS software.
The components of critical thinking have a negative and significant effect on the tendency to high-risk behaviors due to the significance level of 0.05 and lower t-value of -1.96. According to the impact factor (Beta), the effect of creativity on the tendency to high-risk behaviors is 20.5%, the effect of maturity on the tendency to high-risk behaviors is 19.9% and the effect of commitment on the tendency to high-risk behaviors is 61.6%.
According to the results of the study, critical thinking and its components as well as social health and its components have a negative and significant relationship with the tendency to high-risk behaviors among high school students in Miandoab city.AbstractThe aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between critical thinking and social health with the tendency to high-risk behaviors among high school students in Miandoab. Based on this, hypotheses and a conceptual model were considered for research in which critical thinking and its components (creativity, maturity and commitment) and social health along with its components (prosperity, solidarity, cohesion, acceptance and social participation) as independent variables. And tendency to high-risk behaviors is considered as a dependent variable. In order to investigate the purpose of the research, the statistical population in this study includes all first grade high school students in Miandoab city, whose number in the academic year 1398-1399 is approximately equal to 3000 students. The number of statistical samples was selected based on Cochran's formula of 342 people. The stratified random sampling method has been selected. Data collected by the questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS software. The results of this study showed that critical thinking along with its components as well as social health and its components have a negative and significant relationship with the tendency to high-risk behaviors among high school students in Miandoab city.
