Social Norms of the Ethics of Happiness in Qur'ān and Ḥadīth with an Emphasis on Moral Education
The Ethics of happiness focuses on the values governing the act of happiness, which studies three types of relationships: man's relationship with God, himself, and others. The values governing man's relationship with others in terms of happiness include the social norms of the ethics of happiness. Referring to Qur'ānic, Ḥadīth, and ethical sources and using educational approach, the present descriptive-analytical sturdy aimed to determine the social norms in Islamic ethics of happiness based on moral education. The findings of the study indicated that to be truly happy, the believer has certain moral duties towards others and must adhere to the norms. According to Qur'ān and narratives, the social norms of the ethics of happiness include Justice, kindness, benevolence, pleasing others, gratitude, humility, modesty, dignity, and advising. The ethics of happiness as one of the aspects of the applied ethics is used in the process of moral education.Keywords: Applied ethics, ethical education, the ethics of happiness, social norms, happiness in Islam
