The effectiveness of emotion regulation group therapy on the symptoms of women with borderline personality disorder
According to research, emotion regulation therapy is effective on many mental disorders. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of group therapy of emotion regulation on the symptoms of borderline personality disorder.
For the present quasi-experimental and applied research, among women with borderline personality disorder referred to Tohid Psychology Clinic in Isfahan (50 people), 18 volunteers were selected as a sample and randomly divided into 2 groups and a questionnaire. Completed the Lischenring frontier character and the Jackson and Claridge frontier character. The experimental groups then participated in 8 sessions and 2 sessions per week in their programs. Finally, repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni post hoc test were used to analyze the data.
The results showed that emotion regulation was effective on symptoms, emotional turmoil, frustration, fear of intimacy and impulsivity, but there was no significant difference between reality and dissociative symptoms compared to pre-test.
According to the results, the use of group therapy of emotion regulation to improve the condition of women with borderline personality disorder is recommended.
