Investigation of psycho-personality characteristics of the accused in committing crimes with emphasis on the crime of robbery in Savadkuh city

Abstract:
Background

One of the important problems of society is the phenomenon of theft. The increasing prevalence of this phenomenon has led researchers and theorists in the field of social studies to study the causes and factors affecting it. The aim of this study was to investigate the psychological-personality characteristics of the accused in committing crimes with emphasis on the crime of theft in Savadkuh city.

Methods

In this study, 100 thieves (88 people with previous history and 12 people without previous history) were arrested from thieves who were arrested by the police in the last 7 months of 1400 and were introduced to the judicial authority of Savadkuh city by sampling method. Available and selected the Dark Personality Traits Questionnaire, Psychiatric Disorders Questionnaire and Short Form of the Big Five Personality Factors Questionnaire, in order to assess the personality and psychological differences between people with previous history and people without previous history of multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was used

Findings

The findings showed that there is a significant difference in the scores of narcissism and Machiavellianism between the two groups of people with previous history and people without previous history of theft; Unprecedented people in narcissism and people with a previous history of Machiavellianism scored higher. But in terms of anti-social variables, there was no significant difference between people with previous history and people without previous history.

Conclusion

The results showed that there is a significant difference between the two groups of people with previous history and people without previous history of theft in physicalization, anxiety, depression, panic and hostility scores so that people without previous history in these variables score higher than people A history of robbery was obtained and finally no significant difference was found between the two groups in the five personality factors
