Abstract:

In Arabic literature, al-Hariri, fixed the limits of Maqama genre. The most obvious feature of its literary style is saj' and interweaving verses within prose and it has a certain kind of narrative structure that is made up: isnad, introduction, link, episode, recognition scene, envoi and finale. Gradually Munazara (debate) became one of the main subgenres in Arabic Maqama, writing Maqama-Munazara flourished specially after Al-Suyuti "al-Vardia" Maqama, usually with personified non-human characters (Zaban-e Hal). Maqama-Munazara was one of the usual subgenres in Hebrew Maqamas. Munazara was the main subgenre in Persian Maqama too, rebuttal to the famous statement demonstrated that the Maqama genre continued through Golestan and his followers. Abu Sa'd Tirmidhi wrote Maqama-Munazara with personified non-human characters and he showed the capability of this kind of literary Genre by adding praise to it. After him Maqama-Munazara became one of common genres in Persian prose, and even Ubayd Zakani wrote parody of this genre. As the genre evolved, stories with personified characters emerged in which the debate had faded.
