The Role of Family Education Styles in Citizenship Culture(Case Study: Citizens of Lorestan Province)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of family education styles on citizenship culture among citizens aged 18 to 65 years in Lorestan province. The research method was survey and a questionnaire was used to collect information.The sample size of 852 people was calculated and sampling was multi-stage, so that from six cities of Khorramabad, Boroujerd, Aligudarz, Kuhdasht, Aleshtar and Poldakhtar and from each city one city and two suitable villages. With the population size of each, sample individuals were assigned.Turner, Dahlgren , and Calvo –Salguero theories were used in the theoretical review of the research. Data analysis showed that the average index of citizenship culture in terms of the range 1 to 3 is equal to 2.56, which is relatively high. The results of Pearson correlation test also showed that there is a significant relationship between the tendency of tribal affiliation and gender beliefs with citizenship culture.Also, among the triple educational family of style, the democratic family educational style has a significant and positive relationship, the easy educational style has a significant and negative relationship, and the authoritarian educational style has no significant relationship with citizenship culture.The results of multivariate regression also showed that the change in democratic educational style alone explains 26% of the overall dependent variance of citizenship culture. This study maintains the positive role of democratic family education style in strengthening and institutionalizing the advantage of citizenship culture.Therefore, it is suggested to pay attention to family-based policies on a democratic educational style. Governments can help social opportunities within the family to strengthen and institutionalize a culture of citizenship by providing the conditions, living conditions, and facilities needed for a family structure and their supportive and guiding role.
