The impact of information-oriented police approach in identifying and detecting arms and ammunition smuggling

Smuggling weapons and ammunition is one of the most commoncrimes that seriously endanger public safety and seriously damage it.The purpose of investigating the impactof the information-oriented police approach in identifying and detecting arms and ammunition smuggling has been done.

The present study is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of survey method.The statistical population of this research is the staff of Public SecurityPolice of Ilam Police Command.Based on Cochran's formula, 85 of themwere selected as a statistical sample of simple random sampling method.The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire whose validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by content validity method and its reliability was confirmed byCronbach's alpha method.In this research, to analyze the data and hypotheses of the research through one-sample t-test and Friedman test using SPSS software was used.

The findingsof thisstudy showed that the use ofinformation-based police strategyasanewpolice strategy inidentifying, detecting arms and ammunition smuggling inthree dimensions of internal banking information,external organizationalinformation and technical and telecommunication information hasa positive effect,accordingtoFriedman test.Technicaland telecommunicationinformationwith2.62%is in the first rank and then internal organizational databases with1.92% isin the second rank and then external organizational databases with1.45%isin the thirdrank.

Accordingto theresearch findings, the hypotheses presented in the research are proven and are effective in identifying and detecting arms and ammunition smuggling.Consolidation of internal and external databases and access of police crime detection unitsto these banks, necessary interaction with external institutionsto obtain theirdatabases,emphasis onmaximum use of technical and telecommunication information in carrying out missions,including suggestions for detection and identification is.
