Investigating the efficiency of the balcony and its optimization in the planning studies of human settlements (Case study: Districts 7 and 8 of Tehran)
Small apartments, poor ventilation and lack of semi-open spaces such as balconies are some of the challenges of urban life today that must be addressed through scientific planning and construction.
To evaluate the efficiency of the balcony and its optimization methods in residential apartments.
In this study, questionnaires were prepared for all age groups of 10 to 80 years old and up to 100 balconies in 7, 8 districts of Tehran and Pardis and Parand were surveyed. SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Geographical area of the study: The study area with an area of 15335212.41 square meters, constitutes 1.2% of the total area of Tehran and in terms of area is the 15th among the areas of Tehran. The population of the area is 194,312 people. District 8 of Tehran with an area of 1339 hectares and a population of 377806 is located in the eastern part of Tehran.
Balconies in the study areas for reasons such as lack of privacy, incorrect location in terms of architectural space design, unsuitable location in climatic directions, small area and also insecurity, lack of green space, etc. of good performance Do not encounter.
The results showed that the lack of proper private space and privacy in semi-open spaces, is the most important factor of poor balcony function in residential units that must be planned to eliminate them.
