Abstract:
The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of ICT development on transportation demand in Iranian provinces. For this purpose, by collecting the required information and statistics during the period 2009-9018 and using the GMM, the role of information and communication technology on the demand for transportation in the provinces of Iran was tested. The ratio of the average household expenditure in the transportation sector to the average household expenditure in the non-food sector as transportation demand and the IDI index, the number of Internet users, the number of mobile subscribers and the number of landline subscribers for ICT have been used. . The results of this study indicate that the price elasticity of transportation demand is less than one unit and is positive and less elastic in terms of revenue. Also, with the development of information and communication technology, the demand for inter-provincial transportation will increase.
