Assessing and comparing the concentration and control skills of male swimmers and water polo professional athletes
The present study compared the skills of concentration and control of mental states of professional swimming and water polo players. This research is a descriptive-comparative research that has been done by survey and field method. The population of this study, according to the type and nature of the research and the entry criteria, were the swimming and water polo players present in the country's premier league. The sample and the community were equal to 60 athletes participating in the country's club league and were purposefully selected and placed in two groups of swimmers (30 men) and water polo players (30 men). The instrument used was the SASI (South Australian Sports Institute) 60-item Mental Skills Assessment Questionnaire. In data analysis, in descriptive statistics, descriptive tables and graphs were used to express the demographic and descriptive characteristics of the research, and in inferential statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests were used to examine the normality of data distribution. T-test of two independent groups was used to compare the differences between the variables in the two groups. The results showed that there was no significant difference between concentration skills and controlling the mental states of swimming and water polo athletes.
