the role of Ibn Qutayba al-Dīnawarī in the development of Islamic sciences in the third century (AH)
Ibn Qutayba al-Dīnawarī (213-276 AH) is one of the scientists and writers of the third century (AH) who has left many works. The multiplicity of these writings has attracted the attention of Western and Eastern scholars, and various opinions and analyzes have been presented about him and his works. This article has studied the role of Ibn Qutayba alDīnawarī in development of science in third century (AH) by descriptive method and using library sources. The results show that he has played a positive role in scientific content development such as: Quranic sciences, poetry, vocabulary, theology, jurisprudence and history. Although Ibn Qutayba could not have invented a new style or created a new and creative work in his writings, his most important scientific service to the latter was the preservation of many historical, theological, lexical and literary materials. By collecting and writing them, he has caused its survival and transmission to the futur
