Evaluation of mechanical properties of asphalt mixtures containing anti-stripping additives of GRIPPER® L, TeraGrip and WETMUL-950
In this study, the effect of using GRIPPER, TeraGrip and WETMUL-950 additives as anti-stripping additives on the mechanical properties of hot mix asphalt has been investigated. For this purpose, various mechanical tests such as dynamic creep at 54.4°C, resilient modulus test at 25°C, indirect tensile test and semi-circular bending test at 25°C were used. The results of mechanical tests showed that all additives used in this study increased the moisture damage, rutting and crack resistance of asphalt mixtures. Asphalt mixture containing TeraGrip compared to other additives used in this study showed the highest resistance to rutting and cracking, resulting in 43% increase in rutting resistance and 49.6% in crack resistance. Moreover, asphalt mixture containing WETMUL-950 showed 25% increase in moisture damage resistance (i.e., the highest resistance to moisture sensitivity among the various additives used in this study). On the other hand, the results of correlation analysis between the results of performance tests of asphalt mixtures showed that there was more correlation and relation between the performed tests. So that the correlation coefficient between the parameter of indirect tensile strength ratio and resilient modulus ratio under wet and dry conditions (TSR and RMR) with 0.974 has the highest correlation between different parameters of mechanical tests.
