The Relationship between Mental Health and Driver Traffic Discipline (Case Study: District 22 of Greater Tehran)
Traffic discipline is an internal stimulus and internal tendency that creates responsibility in people and many believe that traffic discipline can have many effects on community mental health. People with traffic discipline consider the observance of traffic norms as a duty, and act on it. Therefore, this study was conducted to "investigate the relationship between mental health and traffic discipline of drivers."
The research method is descriptive-survey. The statistical population of all vehicle drivers in the 22nd district of Greater Tehran was that 171 people were randomly selected as the sample population. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire that was validated using the opinions of professors and experts. The results of Cronbach's alpha test showed the desired value of reliability in different parts of the questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using SPSS software.
According to the findings, mental health and traffic discipline are moderate among respondents. On the other hand, a significant relationship was observed between mental health and traffic discipline components among drivers. Also, education variable has shown a significant relationship with the level of traffic discipline. To put it more bluntly, more educated drivers adhered to traffic laws.
Finally, the results of stepwise regression showed that the four subscales of traffic discipline together explained about 45% of the changes in the dependent variable of mental health.
