Methodology of Narrating the History of Prophets and Monarchs in the Qur'an

The purpose of the present study is methodology of narrating the history of prophets and monarchs in the Qur'an. God has applied many conceptual and formal methods to state His aims and intentions in the Qur'an. The present research has focused on the conceptual methods and in this regard, by considering them in the Qur'an, 9 methods derived from other branches of knowledge were reviewed using descriptive analysis of the verses of the Noble Qur'an. The results of the study indicate that the conceptual methods applied in the Qur'an for the narration of the history of the ancestors, especially prophets and monarchs, is different from other branches of science, especially history. The origin of this difference in methods can be traced back to the contradictions between the aims and intentions of the Qur'an and other books. Two main objectives of the Qur'an from the narration of history is for the sake of edification and guidance whereas the major purpose of other historians is the entertainment and satisfaction of monarchs. In this regard, God in line with His aims in the Qur'an, has applied at least 3 basic methods including centralization of prophets and choosing some significant sections of their divine evidences in narrating history, stating prophets' approach to the audience, and dealing with prophets' services not the measures of monarchs.
