Investigating the effect of urban furniture on urban accidents (Case study: accident hotspots in Tabriz)

Traffic accidents are now a global problem that kills a large number of people every year. One of the most important points in urban furniture is the signs and traffic signs that are installed in the city, if not located and placed correctly, it will lead to many problems such as accidents, traffic, etc. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of traffic furniture location on urban accidents. Using the statistics and data obtained from the Rahvar police, we have selected the 5 most accident-prone points in the city of Tabriz, which had the highest number of deaths in three-year accidents (98-96). In the next step, using observations and field studies in relation to traffic furniture, the pathology of furniture in accident-prone areas of Tabriz has been studied. The method used in this research has been mostly based on field observation and study. By attending accident hotspots and evaluating traffic furniture and also comparing the number of fatalities caused by accidents in these areas before and after the required corrections by the Traffic and Transportation Organization of Tabriz Municipality, the desired results have been obtained. The results of the research show that the presence or absence of traffic furniture as well as their correct location is very effective in reducing or increasing human casualties in accident hotspots.
