The effect of a positive treatment approach on improving sleep and reducing pain in patients with multiple sclerosis.
This quasi-experimental study was conducted with pre-test and post-test design. The study population consisted of all patients with multiple sclerosis referred to Multiple Sclerosis Association in Rasht city in 2018. The sample were 24 multiple sclerosis patients which assigned to three group ( experimental and control group) by random sampling. For data gathering used to PETERSBURG Sleep Quality Questionnaire and Pain Management. The experiment groups received 8 sessions of positive psychotherapy and no intervention was done for control group.
Multivariate analysis of covariance was used to analyze the data Results showed that positive psychotherapy therapy increases quality of sleep and pain management in MS patients (001/0>P).
These findings suggest that positive psychotherapy is effective on psychological variables and can be used as complementary therapies in addition to drug therapies for patients with multiple sclerosis.
