A Research on the Intrapersonal Emotion Regulation Strategies in Narrations

Abstract:

Research has shown that emotion regulation plays an important role in various dimensions of human life. In Islamic traditions, there are recommendations on how to regulate and change emotions. The purpose of this article is to examine the strategies of intrapersonal emotion regulation in the narratives in Islamic texts and to compare them with the strategies presented in psychology. The method of research is analytical-comparative and uses keywords related to emotion, it was searched and narrative sources and hadiths were categorized and analyzed based on the type of solutions available in them. The results of the research indicated that in addition to the strategies of psychological science, there are other strategies in Islamic narrations to regulate inner emotions, which include special remembrance, supplication, asking for forgiveness, nutrition, companionship, cleaning, and prayer. These strategies can be considered spiritual and religious emotion regulation strategies and they can be used to regulate emotion and educate people.
