Comparison of the Effectiveness of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Emotion Regulation on Anxiety Depression and Anger in Veterans Wives

One of the major complications of the imposed war is the physical and psychological problems for the veterans and their spouses who are caring for them. Caring for them greatly affects the health and quality of life of their spouses. They contain a wide range of emotional disorders such as anxiety, depression, anger and so on. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of emotion regulation training based on dialectical behavioral therapy on anxiety, depression and anger of veterans’ wives.

This study was a quasi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test with control group. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups. First, pre-test, then dialectical behavioral therapy emotion regulation model training and finally, post-test. In control group pre-test and post –test were performed. Finally, the results of the two groups were compared and the effect of the independent variables was evaluated.

The results showed a significant decrease in anxiety, depression and anger scores in the post-test, indicating the effectiveness of dialectical behavioral therapy emotion regulation training in reducing these variables.

Nursing wives ‘veterans’ wives cause anxiety, depression and anger emotional problems and dialectical behavioral therapy training can play an important role s adjunctive therapy and rehabilitation along with medical treatments by reducing their effects.
