Strategic evaluation of shale gas as an alternative source
Over the past few years, the production of natural gas in shales has increased and attracted a lot of attention around the world due to advances in the extraction of resources trapped in the shale, such as drilling horizontal wells, cracks. Hydraulics or heating (distillation), which itself creates an attitude and competition in the global arena as the creation of an alternative fossil fuel (unconventional source), compared to conventional reserves in the not too distant future. The world’s abundant shale gas reserves are estimated at about 400 trillion cubic feet, spread across Europe, Latin America and Asia. The United States has one of the largest holders of shale gas reserves in the world, with more than 23 percent of those reserves located in the United States. The purpose of this paper is to become more familiar with the complex physics of shale gas resources, modeling, equations governing existing flows, and forecasting production in these resources.
