The Effectiveness of Moral Reasoning and Motivation Training on Adolescent Bully
The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effectiveness of motivation training and moral reasoning on the dimensions of adolescent bullying. The research method was semi-experimental with one subject group and one control group using a pre-test and post-test. The statistical population of this research included all bully students of the first year of high school who were studying in Tabriz in the academic year of 2013-2014. To select the research sample, multi-stage cluster random sampling and screening method were used. Based on the background of related researches, a screening method was used to select bully students using the Illi Noiz questionnaire. In this way, among the students in the classes, 30 students who scored above the cut-off point of the Illi Noiz test were selected as a sample of bully students and were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group was trained using the reasoning and moral motivation training package for ten two-hour sessions and the control group received daily school training. Both groups completed the Illinois Bullying Questionnaire as a pre-test and post-test. Multivariate analysis of covariance test was used for data analysis. The results of multivariate covariance analysis indicated that the effect of reasoning and moral motivation training for all three subscales with F value and significant level including bully (F=8.553, α=0.002), fighting (381/381) F=4, α=024), and victim (F=3.437, α=0.049) (α<0.05) is significant.
