Investigating the skill and knowledge required of police executives in criminal prevention of crime
New approaches in the field of crime prevention theories, although focused on non-criminal prevention, but still attention to criminal prevention is still an important component in crime control and restraint; Therefore, in this article, the author tries to acquire the skills and knowledge of the police, to answer the question, what are the skills and knowledge required by police executives in criminal prevention of crime?
The present research is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of data collection, is in the category of qualitative-exploratory research. The statistical population of the study includes police experts in the field of crime prevention. Purposeful judgmental method was used to select the sample and after conducting 18 interviews with repetition of the identified indicators, the researcher reached theoretical saturation. Data were analyzed using theme analysis method.
Sub-indexes and sub-identities obtained from the interviews indicate that a total of 41 indicators were obtained. Based on theoretical foundations, the study was conducted in the form of 17 skill indicators and 24 indicators of public and private police knowledge in the field of criminal crime prevention. Speed and accuracy in the process of prosecution and investigation of crimes and revealing hidden angles and processes of crimes are the most important skills and knowledge of the legal framework of work and knowledge of crime clues at the crime scene, respectively the most important public and private knowledge of police in crime detection.
The results of the study show that in order to increase the desired performance in criminal prevention of crimes, the police should strengthen and repair the skills, public and private knowledge of executives in order to achieve the necessary success in the process of detecting and prosecuting crimes.
